Deirdre Quinn, chief executive officer and cofounder of Lafayette 148 New York, received the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2016 Award in the Retail and Consumer Products category in New York.
The award from Ernst & Young recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Quinn was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan on June 22.
As a New York award winner, Quinn is now eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Entrepreneur of the Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the Entrepreneur of the Year National Awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 19, 2016.
“This year marks our 20th anniversary,” Quinn said as she was accepting the award. “Over the years we have experienced countless highs, found creative solutions to numerous obstacles and have always held true to our mission. This award not only fuels the entrepreneurial spirit in all of us, but inspires future generations to take a risk and follow their own paths. Here’s to 20 years of what’s next!”
Ernst & Young has been distributing the award since 1986, and has honored such business leaders as Howard Schultz of Starbucks, Robert Unanue of Goya Foods, and Mindy Grossman of HSN.
The awards are the culminating event of the Strategic Growth Forum. The U.S. Entrepreneur of the Year Overall Award winner then moves on to compete for the World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Monaco, June 2017.
Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are sponsored nationally by SAP America, Merrill Corp. and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
