Parsons The New School for Design, PPR and The Fancy have named the finalists of a competition that provides Parsons students with the opportunity to win an internship within one of PPR’s 16 luxury and sport and lifestyle brands.

Starting tonight at 7 p.m., the students’ work will be featured, one student a day, on The Fancy, an online platform that’s part blog, magazine and social media site. By “fancying” these looks, the public will help select the winners — one ready-to-wear and one accessories design. In addition to scoring an internship, the winning collections will be featured during New York Fashion Week in September in a display on the eighth-floor Co-op at Barneys New York on Madison Avenue.

“We believe the cutting-edge designs of these five finalists truly embody PPR’s theme of Empowering Imagination. We are pleased to be nurturing creative talent and inspiring the young designers from Parsons to showcase their work on TheFancy.com. All of these five finalists have demonstrated the talent to have an opportunity to intern at one of our brands,” said Laurent Claquin, head of PPR Americas.

The competition was open to 2012 graduates of the Parsons B.F.A. Fashion Design program. Parsons selected 20 candidates, who last month presented their work to a panel of fashion industry insiders. The five finalists are Jin Kay, Amy Layton, Christy Jeehyun Lee, Yingshi June Lin and Melanie Seligman. Two winners will be named at the end of this month.
