Nautica has signed a license agreement for the Brazil market with Nivel Industries. The deal will bring Nautica men’s and women’s sportswear to Brazil for the first time. Nivel will open a Nautica flagship store in São Paulo in the second half of the year and plans to open a Rio de Janeiro store in early 2014, in addition to selling the line into premium multibrand stores.

“We continue to grow our Nautica brand reach into emerging markets, and we are excited about our partnership with Nivel and entering the Brazilian marketplace,” said Maria Vicari, president of global licensing at Nautica, a unit of VF Corp. “Nivel has a proven track record and extensive expertise in the operation of lifestyle brands in Brazil, and we look forward to partnering with them in this launch.”

Founded in 1988, Nivel Industries markets the Aleatory brand in Brazil, producing men’s and women’s sportswear for more than 35 freestanding stores and 800 points of sale. “We believe that Nautica resonates very well with the Brazilian culture and lifestyle and there is a great potential to grow the brand throughout the entire country,” said Joseph Hamoui, president of Nivel Industries.
