The chubby pink-and-white meringue pigs on Luella Bartley’s pre-show breakfast table were a cheeky hint of what was waiting backstage. Her kooky, upbeat collection was awash in shades of burning hot pink, orange, and deep lavender that spilled over gingham dresses with knife pleat details, dainty cashmere knits and ruffle-front shirts. There was a nod to Coco Chanel, too, with box-plaid boucle coats, trousers and cropped jackets – some of them jazzed up with purple ruffle details and chunky, outsized pearl necklaces. It was princess-meets-punk and it worked – pearls, swine, and all.
