In her first collection as Madewell’s head of design, Joyce Lee — a seven-year veteran of the brand who previously worked on its accessories — drew on various locales, from Morocco to Mexico (hence the word “Anywhere” emblazoned onto a graphic T-shirt, a nod to the collection’s theme of eclecticism). Her girl was a nomad for spring, with heavily embroidered gypsy blouses, ruffled rompers and bohemian, off-the-shoulder dresses giving the easy lineup a flirty, feminine feel.

The denim-heavy collection featured high-waisted, sailor-style flares and overalls as well as vintage-inspired straight-leg jeans, button-front skirts, dresses and jackets. Pops of red embroidery — which will be offered as a customizable service — added a charming, personal touch on the pockets of denim jackets and jeans.
