BCI Brands has a new concept up its sleeve: The firm will introduce Court & Rowe, a preppie line of modern classics for fall.

The contemporary sportswear line will be exclusive to Nordstrom and Dillard’s, and will be sold on its own web site,, launching next week.

The new division looks to elevate and reimagine preppie sportswear, with an emphasis on jackets, outerwear, pants, skirts and dresses, along with easy layering pieces.

“The skirt is a very important part of the preppie wardrobe,” said Emma Postal, director of brands and concept at BCI, whose brands include Court & Rowe, Vince Camuto, Chaus, CeCe by Cynthia Steffe and One State.

Among some of the skirts are pleated plaid styles, as well as swing, pencil and asymmetrical ones.

Court & Rowe will offer four collections a year: fall, holiday, spring and summer. Retail prices range from $49 for basic tops and T-shirts to $299 for topper coats. The line uses all natural fibers.

“I think our best-selling categories will be blazers, shirting and outerwear,” Postal said. The knitwear includes classic nautical sweaters, striped sweaters with novelty buttons, plaid sweaters, boucles and knits that have such French sayings as “voila” and “muse.” There are also topper coats and fashion capes, along with long and short trenchcoats. Several of the topper coats have contrasting collars. The collection is produced in Asia.

Pants have a slim, contemporary fit, but there are also wide-leg pants and flares. The collection is being offered in a full range of sizes, including plus sizes.

The company declined to give a first-year sales projection.

To introduce the line, Court & Rowe will have a pop-up shop at 372 West Broadway in New York from Sept. 14 through Sept. 30. Other marketing initiatives include the use of brand ambassadors and influencers.

The web site, which will ship merchandise from Los Angeles, was designed by Hello Design, based in L.A.
