Hat World, Inc., a division of Genesco Inc., has acquired Impact Sports, a team dealer, custom screen printer and embroidery firm based in Madison, Wis. Terms were not disclosed.

Indianapolis-based Hat World is a mall-based retailer of baseball caps operating primarily under the Lids retail brand.

Impact Sports targets colleges and universities, high schools, bookstores, corporations, and youth organizations. It offers a diverse selection of products including jerseys, warm-ups, fleece, hats, polo shirts, jackets, equipment, T-shirts, shorts, shoes and other sportswear of a major athletic brand catered to teams and fans.

“We view this strategic expansion into the team and fan apparel business as a strong complement to our retail business,” said Hat World president Ken Kocher in a statement. “The team dealer business is highly fragmented, but we believe that Impact Sports’ business model has been proven to be successful and that it has considerable growth potential. Our goal is to take this business nationwide to be the largest team dealer in the country.”
