On the heels of Saturday’s big event, Vineyard Vines said that it has extended its contract to continue as the official style partner of the Kentucky Derby.
The Stamford, Conn.-based apparel brand, which has served in that role since 2011, has signed a five-year extension with Churchill Downs, which owns the annual horserace.
“The Kentucky Derby is such an iconic sporting institution,” said Shep Murray, Vineyard Vines’ cochief executive officer and cofounder. “We couldn’t be more excited to be part of an event that combines fashion, fun and sport.”
“It has been an honor to work with Vineyard Vines for the past seven years,” said Kevin Flanery, president of Churchill Downs Racetrack. “Year after year, Vineyard Vines has delivered fresh, stylish and fun looks through their officially licensed collection of fashion apparel and accessories for the Kentucky Derby. Classic yet exciting, the brand embodies the lifestyle of the Kentucky Derby.”
As part of the partnership, Vineyard Vines will host activations at the race featuring a “Whalestock” concert, retail pop-up shops around the track and a special collection of Derby-inspired apparel for men, women and children. New this time is a special branded Vineyard Vines section at the first turn of the track.
