Riffs of jaunty Charleston music drifted over the East River this past weekend from the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island as faux flappers from New York City and the surrounding area kicked up their heels and raised icy St. Germain cocktails — the prohibition-era party’s official sponsor — in celebration of all things Roaring Twenties. These retro fashionistas donned strands of pearls, jeweled and feathered headbands and knee-skimming fringed dresses as they basked in the June sunshine — with only a few none-too-discreet tattoos revealing it to be 2015 not 1925.
