As Shanghai’s cold and wet winter gave way to a cool spring, crowds thronged to the entrance of Taipinghu Park at Xingyi and Huangpi South Roads, where the bulk of Shanghai Fashion Week’s runway shows are held. Here in the Xintiandi district, known for its renovated “shikumen” facades, attendees wore a wide array of trenches, the occasional biker-style leather jacket, a variety of scarves and shawls, and an eclectic assortment of designer handbags — not to mention a quirky one made from a bag of marshmallows. Black, navy and gray were the dominant shades, with black sometimes paired with graphic prints but more often with white.
