Madrid Fashion Week, held Sept. 18-22 at the fairgrounds on the city’s northeastern edge, brought out an eclectic, casual-chic crowd. They wore looks that included snappy separates such as skinny jeans with the ubiquitous rips or tears; pretty summer dresses, rompers and shorts; jackets and lightweight cover-ups; and a generous dose of denim in various states of distress.

The women went for designer handbags, hats, sandals and short boots, while men chose printed shirts and shorts, a variety of T-shirts, lots of black jeans and drawstring pants. The big accessory for both — here and all around Europe this summer — was big mirrored sunglasses with a vivid tint.
