Held Sept. 15 to 20 in the sprawling IFEMA fairgrounds north of Madrid — during what’s considered Spain’s last official summer weekend — Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid drew a slew of fashionistas to the Spanish capital. Women turned up in summer tanks and cropped bolero tops, worn under ubiquitous biker jackets and ripped jeans or short-shorts. Layering was a hot trend, with many attendees styling slipdresses, bustiers or other lingerie-inspired styles over T-shirts. Also on view: jumpsuits, rompers and oversize shirtdresses — and surprisingly for sunny Spain, lots of black — all worn with sneakers and ankle boots.
