THRESHIE TO RETIRE FROM TEXFI: John L. Threshie, executive vice president of Marion Fabrics, a gray goods division of Texfi Industries, is retiring, effective May 31. R.J. Tisdale, president of the gray fabrics division, which includes Marion, will assume Threshie’s duties and has relocated from Marion, Ga., to the company’s New York offices.
A 44-year veteran of the textile industry, Threshie has held various management positions at Bloomsburg Mills, Burlington Industries and Berkshire Hathaway. He was vice president of Marion when it was acquired by Texfi in 1986.
IWS TAPS BECKWITH, WATSON: The International Wool Secretariat has named Roy Beckwith director of its China/Hong Kong branch, effective May 1, succeeding Helmut Schumacher, who will retire later this year after more than 30 years with the promotional arm of the Australian wool growers.
Beckwith is charged with all technical development, fashion services and Woolmark promotion in the area. He has been with the IWS since 1967, most recently as director, developing countries, a post that will be taken over by Ray Watson.
Watson will be responsible for all IWS operations for the Indian sub-continent, Turkey, Mauritius, Madagascar, North Africa and the Middle East.
TDA MOVES PARLEY SITE: After five years of holding its annual meeting at the Nevele Hotel, Ellenville, N.Y., the Textile Distributors Association is moving this year’s parley to Tamiment Resort and Conference Center, Tamiment, Pa. The session is slated for June 14-17.
