Reflecting the growth of antimicrobial additives and products, Scott Rosenzweig has been appointed president of Sanitized USA Inc., the newly established U.S. headquarters for Swiss-based Sanitized AG. In addition, Darrell Burnette, who has been a U.S. representative since 2008, promoted to sales manager for North America and will focus on textiles.
Sanitized is a built-in antimicrobial brand, with growing global awareness. It delivers hygiene function and material protection to more than 500 licensees that incorporate the Sanitized technology and ingredient brand in hundreds of product categories. The new office is located in Ballantyne One complex in Charlotte, N.C.
“My job will be to expand the U.S. presence of the Sanitized ingredient brand,” said Rosenzweig, who holds a masters of business administration from New York University and has 25 years of experience in strategic brand extension, new product development and licensee management. “This will allow our licensed partners the opportunity to build their businesses and to differentiate their products by delivering to their end users our core benefits of freshness, comfort and/or material protection.”
He said Sanitized will now sell directly to customers in the consumer housewares and building materials industries as well as to commercial business sectors such as food service and health care that use polymers in their end products.
“Also, we will continue to leverage our relationship in the textile industry through our distributor, Archroma, the Swiss global color and specialty chemicals company,” Rosenzweig added.
The antimicrobial sector has been gaining in importance as the activewear market has grown. Companies such as Dow Chemical Co. has increased its marketing of its Silvadur brand fabric additive that is said to inhibit microbial growth and the build-up of microbes on fabric surfaces that can damage the material.
A new sportswear brand called SilverSport is offering an innovative water-saving solution through the use of its revolutionary SilverClean technology in towels, socks and fitness products. Like Silvadur, SilverClean technology incorporates natural silver, which has a well-established association with eliminating odor-causing bacteria.
SilverClean also helps the products stay clean and odor-free between washes, which can mean fewer washes, helping to save water.
