Lifestyle apparel brand Taylor Stitch, in partnership with The Woolmark Co., is launching Civic, an exclusively merino wool-based sub-collection designed for the urban commuter.

Civic is an expansion to performance wear, combining fashion and function by tailoring the collection to meet the demands of its customer’s active lifestyles.

“The current market for merino is focused on two things on opposite ends of the clothing spectrum, suiting or technical outdoor apparel,” said Taylor Stitch cofounder Michael Maher. “Our aim with Civic is to take all the naturally performing goodness of merino and bring it to casual, everyday style. The thermoregulation, anti-odor and breathability are something everyone should be using while the natural, renewable and biodegradable aspects of it are things more companies should be paying attention to.”

The Woolmark Co., a subsidiary of Australian Wool Innovation, used its expertise to guide Civic in bringing the natural performance benefits of the merino wool fiber to the collection that presents as ready-to-wear.

Key pieces in the line include the “Commuter Chino” and “Commuter Short,” crafted with a blend of merino wool and Sorona, allowing the bottoms to retain softness and shape throughout the day.

The “Commuter Jacket” is designed with Woolmark Co.’s innovative Merino Perform waterproof fabric, engineered for comfort and breathability. Rounding out the group are mercerized merino wool T-shirts that offer a luxurious softness and protection against odor.

Prices range from $48 to $298. This month, the Civic men’s wear and women’s wear collections are available exclusively on the Taylor Stitch web site at a discount through the crowdfunding platform “The Workshop,” where only those products that reach their funding goal are manufactured and delivered, giving the customer the power to bring their coveted designs to life.

Taylor Stitch is launching Civic with a series of regional celebrations beginning Thursday in its hometown of San Francisco, followed by Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

Australian Wool Innovation is a not-for-profit enterprise owned by more than 24,000 wool growers that invests in research, development and marketing along the worldwide supply chain for Australian wool.
