The House of Ungaro has a new men’s wear partner in North America.

The Paris-based brand has inked a master licensing deal with New York manufacturer Neema Clothing for all men’s wear under the Ungaro Homme and Emanuel/Emanuel Ungaro trademarks.

“These lines have always had a place in this market,” said Mounir Moufarrige, president and chief executive officer of Emanuel Ungaro SAS. “This is a continuation of this business, just with a new partner.”

The lines were previously distributed in the region by the beleaguered British company Marchpole.

Under the three-year deal, Neema will produce and distribute Emanuel/Emanuel Ungaro, a line of slim-cut tailored clothing, to better department stores. Suits will retail under $1,000.

It will also distribute the company’s bridge lifestyle collection Ungaro Homme, which includes tailored clothing, furnishings and an in-house sportswear collection. That line will be sold to contemporary specialty stores.

Both collections will hit the market for spring 2010.

The deal marks Neema’s first move into the contemporary collections business. The company is best known as a manufacturer of tailored clothing; it also has a stake in the classic sportswear and clothing brand Haspel.

“This gives us a fashion suit for a fashion customer at an affordable price,” said Neema president Jim Ammeen. “It has an international flavor and fits nicely into our stable of younger-oriented men’s wear.”

In addition to its North American business, Ungaro Homme is distributed in Europe and Asia.
