Jewelry played a particularly important role in the fall collections this year, with necklaces making an especially big statement. Some labels bet on black: Marc Jacobs offered an elaborate, Goth-meets-Victorian-mourning-jewelry bib-style piece of glittering gemstones, while Mulberry’s new creative director Johnny Coca did an intricately carved, black heart pendant on a fine chain. Others decided to go for the gold. At Loewe, where accessories are making a big splash under creative director J. W. Anderson, the collection included a choker of interlocked circles; Nini Ricci offered a sculptured, three-tiered piece that resembled hook-and-eye closures.
