PAS DE DEUX: Do swans wear Adidas? For the ballerinas of the Staatsballett Berlin, the answer is yes. Adidas teamed up with the company’s female dancers for the relaunch of its women’s Techfit collection for spring-summer 2011. Members of the troupe started testing and critiquing Techfit pieces in 2009 in an effort to ensure the new generation of high-performance garments combines ultimate fit and femininity.
The capsule collection includes an all-in-one bodysuit and a power web tank and tights, all with compression technology that increases blood and oxygen flow to maximize body energy and enhance performance, as well as providing “lift and hug” support for better body awareness.
Set to retail between 48 euros and 85 euros, or $65 and $116, at current exchange rates, the TechFit collection will globally hit the shelves of Adidas Sport Performance stores, the Adidas Online store and selected sports retailers in January. The multipurpose range in black polyamide and elasthane will be updated in new colors next season, and is conceived to be merchandised alongside the other Adidas women’s collections. Sized XS to XL, “You don’t need the perfect body of a ballerina to wear it. TechFit is for every woman of every size,” said Sasha Kamiya, Adidas women’s apparel product manager.
