THE WHITE STUFF: In another signal of a vibrant market for alternative bridalwear, French designer Alexis Mabille plans to give over one of his two Paris boutiques to wedding attire.
Starting mid-December, his location at 34 Galerie Vivienne is to showcase an array of dresses to walk the aisle, along with tuxedos and more relaxed evening dresses. He’s also designed a selection of veils and accessories, including clutches and bow ties.
“The idea was to make shopping for a wedding dress as easy as shopping for any other kind of outfit,” Mabille said. “So I decided to transcribe my evening collection into a range of whites and soft colors.”
Gowns are priced from 1,350 euros, or $1,450 at current exchange, with accessories starting at 150 euros, or $161.
Mabille said his friends and clients are often too impatient for made-to-measure looks and “want looks that are cool.”
Mabille’s other boutique is located at 11 Rue de Grenelle on the Left Bank of the French capital.
