Italian news Web sites were buzzing after the daily Il Fatto Quotidiano splashed news of Andrea Guerra’s departure from his role as consultant to Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on its front page Tuesday.
Under the headline: “The government loans Guerra to its friend Oscar’s Eataly,” the Rome-based daily said that after a five-month stint with Renzi, Guerra was headed to Eataly, the rapidly expanding high-end food emporium founded by Oscar Farinetti, for a new gig as chief executive officer.
An Eataly spokeswoman declined to comment on the news.
Since leaving Luxottica in September 2014 after a decade at the firm, Guerra has been busy: in December he began working with Renzi as senior strategic adviser for business, finance and industry, and in February, he joined the board of directors of Coach Inc. Guerra also serves on the board of various other companies.
