The graduation fashion show at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts is a popular event for the small city, attracting some 6,000 spectators over three days. This year, it was the women who took home the main prizes. Clara Jungman Malmquist’s colorful and graphic collection, inspired by Paint by Numbers, won the BVBA 32 Award given by Anne Chapelle, the Belgian entrepreneur behind the Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann businesses. Meanwhile, Madeleine Coisne was awarded three prizes — one sponsored by the designer boutique Granmaarkt 13, another from fashion museum Momu and another from the newspaper Weekend Knack — for her collection that also was full of bright graphics. Lastly, Raffaela Graspointner’s playful patchworks won her the Academy Award and the FFI Award for the collection with the most commercial potential.
