Prepare for the ponytail: Pop singer Ariana Grande and indie singer-songwriter — and Justin Bieber collaborator — Halsey will perform at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, it was announced on Thursday. Kendrick Lamar is set to attend to present the True Story award.
It was announced last week that Will Smith will receive the Generation award at this year’s ceremony, which will be hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on April 10.
Grande is hyping her upcoming third album, “Dangerous Woman,” the title track of which she will perform at the movie awards. Halsey will debut her song, “Castle,” from the upcoming soundtrack for “The Huntsman: Winter’s War,” which stars Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, Chris Hemsworth, and Emily Blunt. The singer has been quite busy lately, popping up front row at Chanel and launching a lipstick line with MAC. She’ll make her Coachella debut later this spring.
Lamar, himself a seven-time Grammy winner, joins the list of presenters which includes Theron, Hemsworth and Chastain, as well as Zac Efron, Gigi Hadid, Olivia Munn and Seth Rogan. The True Story award is new to MTV this year: nominees are “Concussion,” “Joy,” “Steve Jobs,” “Straight Outta Compton,” “The Big Short” and “The Revenant.”
