New product introductions, technological innovations and packaging redesigns keep the cosmetics and health and beauty market lively. Following are some items manufacturers will be showcasing this year.
Salon Selectives
Salon Selectives’ new Custom Highlights Mascara is available in five colors and features the line’s signature fruity, green-apple scent. Each has a retail price of $4.99.
Clairol Herbal Essences
The new Clairol Herbal Essences Maximum Collection is available starting this month. It includes Intensive Conditioning Balm, Leave-In Conditioner, Maximum Hold Aerosol Hairspray, Maximum Hold Non-Aerosol Hairspray and Maximum Hold Mousse. Each has a retail price of $2.99.
M Professional
M Professional has redesigned its lip gloss from pot to wand and updated the formula to include a light vanilla taste and more sheen. They are priced at $3.69 each. The company has also developed three new brow powder shades that come with a slant-tipped applicator brush. The new shades are: Brunette, Mocha and Blonde. Each is priced $3.99.
Revlon ColorStay
This fall, Revlon ColorStay Haircolor introduces six new shades: Extra Light Beige Blonde, Light Reddish Blonde, Dark Ash Blonde, Dark Ash Brown, Dark Copper Mahogany and Deep Plum. Each will cost $6.99 at retail.
Media Brands
Media Brands will update the packaging for its Snapmagic and Wrapmagic hair accessories for the fourth quarter.
Freeman Cosmetics
Freeman Cosmetics has added two new items to its Barefoot line: Grapefruit and Cranberry 3 in 1 Foot Wash and Cucumber and Tea Tree Cooling Foot and Leg Gel. Each 5.3-oz. tube costs $2.99. The company has also introduced two items to the Beautiful Bath line: Mint Leaf & Apple Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizer and Citrus Fruit & Lemongrass Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizer. Each 8.5-oz. pump bottle costs $3.49.
Body Fantasies
Body Fantasies Fragrance Glitter Sprays from Parfums de Coeur will be featured in summer and fourth-quarter promotions. Each of the five scents will be priced $3.95.
Prestige
Prestige is introducing a line of body tattoo pencils. Each kit includes four pencils, a sharpener and The Art of Body Art booklet. The price per kit is $4.95.
Maybelline
Maybelline is extending its new True Illusion franchise with a liquid-to-
powder version. While trying to grab a greater share of the foundation market, the company continues to heavily promote its top-selling mascara, Great Lash.
State of Mind
State of Mind, a new company based in Dallas, is introducing a bath line of the same name. Five fragrances are available in a body lotion, shower gel, hand cream, bath bars, bath sands, candles, candle travelers, incense and roll-on fragrance. The line also features a spa line and nutritional tablets. Items will range in price from $1.49 to $9.99.
Black Opal
Black Opal’s color promotion for fall, Get the Flava, features cafe-scented shades for lips and nails in flavors such as cafe cappuccino, mocha almond and chocolate cherry.
Dep
This month, Dep Corporation relaunches Halsa Herbal Shampoos and Conditioners with new packaging and formulas: Marigold & Orange Blossom, Mint & Rosemary and Chamomile & Rose Hips. Each 20-oz. bottle is priced $2.89.
Almay
Almay, which just introduced a line of anti-chap lip color earlier this year, called Stay Smooth, is adding another new line in July — Almay One Coat Lipcolor. Available in 31 shades, each carries a suggested retail price of $7.75.
Maybelline
Maybelline is promoting its new Ombrelle sun protection line this summer. The line was rolled out in March and is the company’s first foray into the U.S. personal care market. Suggested retail price for a 4-oz. lotion is $10.
Tinkerbell
Tinkerbell has created several promotional products that will be introduced over the next 12 months, including a Halloween hair mascara called Witchy Wand that features glow-in-the-dark colors. Its suggested retail price is $2.95. And for holiday parties and as a stocking stuffer, it will be offering a roll-on body glitter and matching glitter nail polish. The set also retails for $2.95.
Fetish
In a fourth-quarter seasonal promotion, Fetish will be featuring holiday-themed nail art and nail files and will give away a free notebook with every purchase.
Revlon
This year, Revlon is highlighting its newest lip color item, MoistureStay, which it describes as meeting both lip care and color needs. Priced at $10 each, MoistureStay contains vitamin C and comes in 30 shades.
Fun Cosmetics
Fun Cosmetics is adding an aromatherapy lip gloss and set of pocket-sized glitter pencils to its teen-oriented cosmetics collection. The gloss is priced at $2.99 each, and the pencil kit is $4.99.
Almay
Almay is introducing StayClean pore strips. Featuring salicylic acid, it comes in boxes of six, at a suggested retail price of $5.95, and a 12-count box, at $12.95. It is also introducing StayClean shine removing face tissues.
Pond’s
Pond’s new Assorted Clear Pore Strips are available in a package of 12 strips, three each for the nose and forehead and six for the chin or cheek for $8.99. In July, Pond’s introduces Cucumber Eye Treatments, which are pads infused with cucumber extract, aloe vera, chamomile and green tea to relieve eye puffiness. A jar of 24 premoistened pads will cost $7.99.
Jane Cosmetics
In its back-to-school promotion, Jane Cosmetics has created Tag-a-Longs, a two-for-one promotion. The offers will include a free trial-size eye pencil with the purchase of a mascara, a trial-size LipHuggers lipstick when you buy a nail polish or a trial-size lip pencil with a LipHuggers full-size lipstick. All Jane products are priced at $2.99.
Sally Hansen
Sally Hansen is introducing Micro Laminate Reinforcing Top Coat, designed to provide a protective layer and add shine to nails. Slated to hit store shelves in August, it carries a retail of $4.95.
Pro 10
Pro 10 Nail is putting an emphasis on holidays this fall with a new collection of shimmery pastels. The six-shade collection has been dubbed Puttin On the Glitz.
L’Oreal
Feria, L’Oreal’s newest hair-color line, targeted at a trendy, young market, will debut in September. Offered in 24 shades, a one-application kit is priced at $9.95.
Naturistics
Sunny, a new fragrance from Naturistics, will be unveiled in August as a 0.17-oz. trial-size cologne for $2.25. It will be followed in September by the full line, including a cologne spray, cologne body spray, body lotion, body splash and body wash. The price for a 1.8-oz. cologne is $10.95.
L’Oreal
L’Oreal is extending its Plenitude line with an oil-free version of Future E, its vitamin E-enriched moisturizer. Available in September, a 4-oz. lotion is priced $8.99. A new clear styling pomade is being added to the company’s Studio brand line of hair care products. A 2-oz. container is $4.49.
