TAKE THREE
The National Portrait Gallery in London hosted a triple-header last week.
First, there was the dinner following the British premiere of “The Madness of King George.” A few days later, there was the official opening of the Richard Avedon retrospective — which drew the Princess of Wales — and finally, a charity dinner for the AIDS Crisis Trust.
“I feel like I live here,” said socialite and AIDS Crisis Trust chairwoman Marguerite Littman, who attended all three events.
At the “King George” premiere, Nigel Hawthorne (who has the title role), broke in his new Gianni Versace tuxedo before trotting it out on Oscar night.
“It takes some getting used to,” he said. “I couldn’t figure out why I felt so uncomfortable until someone pointed out I had the cummerbund on upside down.”
