SHEINBAUM HEADING 5 HILFIGER STORES
Byline:
NEW YORK — Tommy Hilfiger Corp. has named Gary Sheinbaum president of its specialty stores division, succeeding Terry Pritikin, who left the company in November.
Sheinbaum was president of J. Crew Retail Stores until September 1994. In 1979, he began at Macy’s, where he was men’s wear buyer and store manager. He was named managing director of Polo Ralph Lauren on Madison Avenue and 72nd Street in 1989.
At Hilfiger, he will be responsible for managing the five specialty stores. Two are in Chicago; the others, in Stamford, Conn.; Short Hills, N.J., and Columbus, Ohio. He reports to Robert Grayson, chairman of Tommy Hilfiger Retail, which includes the Hilfiger outlet stores division.
Hilfiger, as reported, is planning to reenter the women’s apparel business in 1997.
J. Crew has not named a successor to Sheinbaum, a spokeswoman said. Rob Bernard, president and chief operating officer of J. Crew Group, has assumed Sheinbaum’s responsibilities.
