BARRETT SIGNS 2 LICENSING PACTS
MILAN — Neil Barrett entered two licensing deals last week that could elevate his profile for fall.
White Srl, Barrett’s worldwide licensing arm, signed a seven-year knitwear deal with Miss Deanna for men’s and women’s knit and jersey collections, and an exclusive Japanese distribution deal with Sann Freres S.A, which is the exclusive Japanese importer for Jil Sander, Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.
Barrett exited a design consulting deal with Samsonite last fall with the idea of developing his own business. The decision gave him the liberty, he said, to explore his brand’s options.
Barrett’s resume also includes stints at Prada, where he was men’s wear director, and Gucci, where he was an assistant to Tom Ford and a men’s designer.
Barrett’s women’s designer collection, which made its debut at Pitti Uomo last January, is sold at 60 high-end specialty stores. His men’s line is sold in 160 stores around the world.
Barrett’s knitwear and jersey collection will be based in the designer’s Milan offices. Among his other licensees are Allegri, which produces Barrett’s ready-to-wear, and Santacroce Srl, for leather and accessories.
