GENE TORCHIA HEADS LIMITED STORE DESIGN
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gene Torchia has been named president of store design and construction for The Limited Inc., with responsibilities, including redesigns, extending across all retail divisions, including Intimate Brands, which is 84 percent owned by The Limited Inc.
He was with Gap, where he worked for 13 years, most recently as vice president of corporate architecture and construction.
“Gene’s experience with other branded companies, along with his background in construction and engineering will be put to good use at The Limited,” said Leslie Wexner, chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.
Torchia reports to Wexner and succeeds Charles Hinson, who recently retired as president of The Limited Store Planning after 30 years with the corporation. Hinson joined Limited in 1971 when it had 11 stores. It currently has more than 5,000 stores, including those operated by Intimate Brands.
Prior to joining the company, Hinson was a contractor working on the first Limited store at Kingsdale Shopping Center in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
Throughout his career with Limited, he led the design, development and construction of new and remodeled stores across the corporation.
