TOKYO — Bare Escentuals Inc., under the tutelage of its parent company Shiseido Co. Ltd., is launching a bareMinerals skin care line developed specifically for Asian skin.
The new line, developed from Bare Escentuals’ proprietary mineral ingredient ActiveSoil Complex, consists of seven products. There are two cleansers, two nighttime serums and three moisturizers formulated for normal, dry and combination skin.
Shiseido said the products will hit the market at 11 department stores in Japan as well as Japan’s version of shopping channel QVC on March 16 and subsequently rolled out to other Asian countries.
Prices range from 2,940 yen, or $37.81 at current exchange, for 140 ml of Purifying Foam Cleanser to 4,725 yen, or $60.76, for 30 ml of Active Cell Renewal Night Serum.
The line, which targets women in their 30s and 40s, attempts to counterbalance the fact that women lead busy lives and have insufficient time to rest their bodies and replenish their skin, Shiseido said in a release.
“The texture gives a smooth feeling without stickiness and thus is also comfortable for the highly humid climate specific to Asia,” the company said.
Bare Escentuals started expanding its skin care offering earlier this year, rolling out items like a cleansing foam and a firming eye treatment to the United States and the United Kingdom.
