With the goal of getting consumers to think happy thoughts, bareMinerals will be joining forces with interior designer Jonathan Adler on a limited-edition collection that merges cosmetics with home decor. The Happiness by Design themed set, available in February, features an oversize version of the brand’s Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and Handy Buki Brush housed in a decorative keepsake box.
“[It’s] intended to evoke the promise that both brands distinctly and consistently make to their customers: that every single product we create should make your life better, easier, cooler, way more interesting, way more entertaining…or in one word, happier,” said Bare Escentuals founder Leslie Blodgett. Redesigned product packaging and the coordinating memento bin will showcase Adler’s signature chevron pattern and use of vivid colors which, “[have] mood enhancing benefits,” said Blodgett. Extending its happiness theme, the kit’s Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15, which is 18 grams versus eight, is meant to be used “more luxuriously, on your décolleté,” according to Blodgett. The preservative free foundation, available in five shades — fairly light, light, medium, medium beige and medium tan — boasts adjustable sheer to full coverage when applied with the goat haired Handy Buki Brush.
“I’m a guy so I don’t wear makeup but, when I got the call from bareMinerals I heard an ear-piercing squeal from all the girls in the office — they are all such fans and devotees of the brand,” said Adler. “I love the marriage of their amazing products with my favorite patterns and colors.”
As the first partnership for bareMinerals, Blodgett remained quiet about future plans but noted, “It’s the beginning of a world of collaborations.” Available at bareMinerals boutiques, Ulta and Nordstrom locations, as well as online (bareminerals.com and sephora.com), the collection will retail for $60.
Happiness by Design will mark Adler’s first foray into the world of cosmetics. “I respond to the message of the company and to Leslie Blodgett’s vision — she’s chic and authentic,” he said.
