Britney Spears, Drake, U2 and Sia will headline at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Festival this coming September.
Other performers to take the stage at the festival, which will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 23 and 24, include Ariana Grande, Usher, Good Charlotte, Hailee Steinfeld, Alessia Cara, Pitbull, Zedd, Sting, Panic! At the Disco, Cold War Kids, The Chainsmokers, DNCE, OneRepublic and, curiously, Billy Idol. Ryan Seacrest has been tapped to handle hosting duties for the two-day event. Perhaps Seacrest will sport looks from his men’s sportswear line for Macy’s, Ryan Seacrest Distinction, for the show. Tickets to the festival go on sale Saturday at 1 p.m. EST.
The CW network will air the whole show in a two-day televised special on October 6 and 7 at 8 p.m. The network is also live-streaming the show on its web site and via its app. The festival will also be streamed to the 150 iHeartMedia markets live as it unfolds.
Spears will take a break (albeit a short one) from her residency at Planet Hollywood for the festival — she’s back on stage in Las Vegas the night after the festival. Spears recently announced she was extending her residency for another two years, concluding in December 2017. Spears seems to be reviving her image as of late, landing the cover of V Magazine’s 100th issue. She graced the cover of the glossy to promote her Vegas show and her ninth studio album, still in the works.
IHeartRadio has again partnered with the Global Citizen Festival for the event. This will be the sixth annual iHeartRadio Music festival. Last year’s headliners included Kanye West, Sam Smith, Demi Lovato, Coldplay, the Weeknd, Fall Out Boy and Lil Wayne.
The iHeartRadio franchise also includes the iHeartRadio Music Awards, which were held in April. Jason Derulo hosted and chart-toppers Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik and Meghan Trainor all performed.
