LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM: Jean Paul Gaultier will be front-and-center in more ways than one for the Oct. 23 press preview of an exhibition of his work at the Brooklyn Museum. The designer will be on hand to deal with the media and a mannequin created to look like him will greet visitors at the entrance to the show. Designed by Jolicoeur International, his lifelike form also winks flirtatiously and has a recording of his voice.
That isn’t the only mannequin that might startle visitors. True to Gaultier’s provocative reputation, there will a S&M-inspired pairing as well as mannequins of a variety of shapes and sizes. Jolicoeur International is the worldwide sponsor of London, Melbourne and Paris. Once it opens to the public Oct. 25, “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” will be on view through Feb. 23 before moving on to stops in London, Melbourne and Paris.
