Canada Goose Holdings Inc. plans to continue its retail expansion with three more stores this fall.
Two of the doors will be in Canada, on Saint Catherine Street in Montreal and at the CF Pacific Centre in Vancouver. The third store will be at The Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey, which will also represent its fourth store in the U.S. All three stores are slated to open before the beginning of the 2018 holiday shopping season.
The Montreal and Short Hills locations with be the first in North America to offer a “cold room,” where customers can test out the brand’s warmest parkas in temperatures as low as minus 13 Fahrenheit.
Dani Reiss, president and chief operating officer, said, “The experience of shopping in a Canada Goose store is both a walk through our history and an opportunity to discover how we continue to innovate for the future.” When the company completed its initial public offering in March 2017, he said the plans for the future would more retail and possible entry into new market categories such as footwear and accessories.
While the new locations will reflect the local aesthetics of each city, the stores will also include the familiar marble polar bear sculptures from Canadian artist Jason Carter.
The outerwear brand has retail stores in seven cities: London, Toronto, New York, Boston, Chicago, Calgary and Tokyo, which is operated by a distribution partner. The brand’s e-commerce business has been expanded to 12 countries. And just last month, Canada Goose disclosed its growth strategy for Greater China, which includes opening stores in Beijing and Hong Kong, as well as having an e-commerce presence on Alibaba Group’s Tmall platform. The company will also establish a regional head office in Shanghai.
