NEW STINT: Chantal Thomass has teamed up with Paris cabaret Crazy Horse.
The lingerie designer is following in the footsteps of past Crazy Horse guest artistic directors such as Christian Louboutin and choreographer Philippe Decouflé. She staged four different acts and created the costumes and sets for a show called “Dessous Dessus,” slated to run from Oct. 5 to Dec. 31. Ellen von Unwerth shot the poster image.
The venue, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2016, collaborated with Dita Von Teese earlier this year on “Dita’s Crazy Show.” “I loved it. It was graceful and delicate,” said Thomass about the burlesque artist’s performance.
“Dancers will be a little bit more dressed than usual,” Thomass told WWD about the new show. (Crazy Horse dancers are typically topless on stage.)
She described the inspiration for her designs as a mix between 18th-century romantic and Marlene Dietrich in the Thirties. There will be a dozen different pieces, including from her namesake label’s fall and spring 2017 collections, plus some exclusive creations.
“Crazy Horse dancers already have my hairstyle,” she said, referring to her signature bob. “I am wondering why I haven’t done it before.”
On a different note, the relentless designer has a capsule collection for French innerwear label Damart in the works.
