BERLIN — Danish fashion brand Samsøe & Samsøe opened its first German flagship here on Jan. 17.
“We started with our home market of Denmark and first expanded to Sweden and Norway. Now, we’re looking to the south. We opened monobrand shops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam and Berlin is the kickstart for the German market, where we will focus on big cities,” said creative director Mia Kappelgaard.
The 1,700 square-foot space at the Bikini concept mall in the City West offers men’s and women’s wear collections, accessories and shoes of the Danish brand, known for minimalist contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics.
The Berlin flagship is part of an intense expansion strategy that includes in-store shops at Printemps Paris, more monobrand shops in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Berlin within the next few months. Besides retail, Samsøe & Samsøe aims to expand product ranges, such as shoes and jewelry.
“We’re also looking at entering markets like Canada and the U.S.,” Kappelgaard added, “but figuring out the right way to approach these markets and figuring out the right timing is a lengthy process.”
