Luxury goods house Delvaux is getting the Barneys New York treatment with a full window display in the retailer’s Chicago location. The display, making its debut early this week, celebrates the upcoming “Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary. 1926-1938” exhibit, which opens June 24 at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2008, Delvaux introduced a bag inspired by René Magritte’s surrealist artwork: “Ceci n’est pas un Delvaux.” A nod to Magritte’s famous “The Treachery of Images” painting, the bag also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the brand’s signature “Le Brilliant” silhouette. In honor of the Chicago exhibition, Delvaux will be releasing a limited run of 10 “Ceci n’est pas un Delvaux” bags. Each bag will be numbered from one to 10, and retail for $7,350 exclusively at Barneys.
