ART PIECE: Dior Homme has once again turned to the Parisian design firm M/M to create installations in its New York men’s store in SoHo and its Miami Design District boutique to launch its spring collection.
The installations, which will be in the stores for one month beginning on Oct. 28 in New York and Nov. 15 in Miami, are an extension of a photographic catalogue entitled “Archistools,” which was conceived by Dior Homme artistic director Kris Van Assche and photographed by Karim Sadli. A complementary video has also been produced that will be released in November.
The installation is intended to bring to life Van Assche’s inspiration for the season, which centers around several musical movements including new wave, new beat and electronic music.
The photographs show models world seated or standing on stools that can be adjusted in size and scale and “places the spring 2015 collection within a perspective of urbanity and modernity,” Van Assche said.
A “refresh” of the installation in the Miami store will go live on Dec. 2 to coordinate with the Art Basel Miami Beach, slated for Dec. 4-7.
