PLUM FAIRY: The Royal Couple won’t have time for an outing to The New York City Ballet’s version of “The Nutcracker,” but the Duchess of Cambridge showed some Balanchine-worthy grace Sunday night. She arrived on the Upper East Side in a bespoke plum coat from Séraphine. Just as Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies” is considered to be the most sought after role in the holiday favorite ballet, the Duchess was light-footed as ever in the customized Marina topper.
Expecting her second child, the former Miss Middleton has taken to Paris-born Cecil Reinaud’s luxe maternity creations. In her 12 years in business, the designer has dressed such VIPs as Kate Winslet, Halle Berry and Gwen Stefani. Séraphine is based in Chicago.
Middleton won’t be winging it to D.C. Monday with Prince William to visit President Obama, but Michelle Obama, whose designer choices have long included all shades aubergine, no doubt would have approved of the plum choice made by the stylish Londoner.
