NEW YORK — Elie Tahari will unveil its first eyewear collection for spring 2014 through a partnership with Colors in Optics Ltd.
Comprised of men’s and women’s frames, offerings will consist of sun and optical styles and retail from $150 to $250.
“It’s eyewear that has a classic, vintage feel with a modern twist. We are focusing on modern classic eyewear,” Tahari told WWD. In the midst of the design process currently, he said the line will include silhouettes like aviators, oversize and cat-eye. “We had a lot of opportunities to do eyewear and it never felt right — with the people or the time. We are doing eyewear [so] we had to see eye to eye,” the designer said.
Tahari added that as the company plans for international growth on the retail side, carrying eyewear is integral to the overall strategy. He revealed that the brand is also looking to expand categories and the range of product within its freestanding stores through additional licensing deals.
Color in Optics also produces eyewear for brands such as Steve Madden, Rocawear, Jessica Simpson and Vince Camuto.
