LONDON — European stocks logged modest gains in morning trading on Monday.
The CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.3 percent to 5,216.93, followed by the FTSE 100 in London, which gained 0.2 percent to 7,528.35. The DAX in Frankfurt and the FTSE MIB in Milan both rose 0.1 percent to 12,311.34 and 21,958.20, respectively.
The euro traded at $1.17, while the pound fetched $1.30 and the Danish krone equaled $0.15 at 9:30 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Gemfields, up 2 percent to 0.32 pounds; Joules Group, 1.9 percent to 3.02 pounds, and Boohoo.com, 1.5 percent to 2.49 pounds.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were MySale Group, down 1.9 percent to 1.02 pounds; Pandora, 1 percent to 744 kroner, and Carrefour SA, 0.9 percent to 20.52 euros.
