LONDON – European stock markets were uneven in early afternoon trading on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 in London was the only one to gain ground, climbing 0.1 percent to 7,355.97, while the DAX in Frankfurt was flat at 11,962.26.
The CAC 40 in Paris fell 0.3 percent to 4,956.06, while the FTSE MIB in Milan was down 0.2 percent to 19,408.74.
The euro traded at $1.06, while the pound fetched $1.23, and the Swiss franc equaled $0.99 at 1:30 p.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were uneven, with the morning’s biggest gainers including Gemfields, 2.4 percent to 0.43 pounds; Unilever, 1 percent to 44.99 pounds; Tod’s, 1.1 percent to 67.70 euros; Aeffe, 1.1 percent to 1.41 euros; and Boohoo.com, 0.8 percent to 1.54 pounds.
Among the morning’s biggest fallers were Yoox Net-a-porter Group, 2.2 percent to 22.52 euros; Jimmy Choo, 2 percent to 1.59 pounds; Mulberry Group, 3 percent to 10.61 pounds; and Koovs.com, 2 percent to 0.47 pounds.
