YOUNG BLOOD: Fashion East has announced the designers who will be showcasing their collections as part of its forthcoming show at London Fashion Week. This year’s lineup is made up of four Central Saint Martins alumni, including returning designers, Caitlin Price and Richard Malone, as well as newcomers A.V. Robertson and Mimi Wade.
This is the first year that the program will be supporting four designers, instead of three.
“The selection process was getting impossible, until panel member Mandi Lennard suggested we award four designers instead of our usual three. I am more excited than ever to reveal the talent we have chosen — it’s the most brilliant lineup yet,” said founder Lulu Kennedy.
Kennedy, who launched the nonprofit program 15 years ago and has since supported designers such as Gareth Pugh and Simone Rocha, also noted that A.V. Robertson is joining the program following recommendations from both Katie Grand and Katie Hillier. Recognized for her intricate, handmade embroideries, Robertson has already launched a capsule collection in collaboration with ASOS Black and will be making her catwalk debut with Fashion East.
Mimi Wade, the second new addition to the lineup, stood out to the panel for her hand-painted leather pieces.
The event will take place on Feb. 20 with a catwalk show and a presentation in Topshop’s London Fashion Week show space, Fashion East’s sponsor for the 12th consecutive year.
