BUYING TO BUILD IN SWIM: Fleet Street Ltd. acquired Cyn & Luca, fortifying its position in the swimwear market. In addition to the 15-year-old Cyn & Luca’s assets, Fleet Street picks up the company’s design, merchandising and operational talent.
Manny Haber, president of Fleet Street, said, “Their interpretation of fashion is compelling and we’re mature and capable of giving them [stronger] infrastructure. So far, they have not been as good as they could be.”
Based in New York’s Garment District, Fleet Street was founded in 1964 and produces swimwear under the Kensie, Roots, Peter Nygård and Simon Chang brands and outerwear under the Fleet Street, Kensie and Vince Camuto names. The company sells to what it describes as “every level of retailing, extending from exclusive specialty department stores to largest store groups.”
