From fashion to real estate, Kevin Thompson, who held the post of vice president of customer experience and development at luxury department store Barneys New York for more than four years between 2011 and 2015, has been named chief marketing officer at Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates, the group’s luxury global residential real estate firm.
Thompson, who also worked as brand manager at Moncler and at Gucci in the role of area manager men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, will oversee Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates’ marketing, advertising and public relations initiatives worldwide. He reports to the company’s president and chief executive officer, Philip White.
“Kevin Thompson has an extensive background working with globally recognized luxury brands and brings a passion for creating exceptional consumer experiences through the strategic use of marketing and branding,” White said. “He has a comprehensive understanding of the luxury consumer, which is an invaluable insight for our business, and his drive to inspire while also innovating aligns with the Sotheby’s International Realty brand mission. We welcome his marketing acumen as our brand continues to pioneer in the luxury residential real estate industry and we are proud to have him join our team.”
Thompson is also the cofounder of nonprofit organization Ruiru Rising, which operates in rural Kenya by funding higher-education programs for at-risk kids.

In 2016, the company posted record global sales, especially boosted by the U.S. market, with annual volume of $95 billion.
Currently, a Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates’ sales associate is managing the sale of Sony Music Entertainment chief creative officer Clive Davis’ duplex at Manhattan’s Ritz Tower, a co-op building on Park Avenue. The apartment is listed for $7.8 million.
