PROSE’S BOOK CLUB: Francine Prose kicked off her book tour for her new novel “Lovers at the Chameleon Club, Paris 1932” Wednesday at Bookmarc in the West Village, where her longtime friend Robert Duffy hosted a party and book-signing. The book is the 17th work of fiction by Prose, who was dressed in Marc Jacobs “top to toe” except for her hot pink glasses, which she got in Rome. Inspired by Violette Morris — the woman dressed in a tuxedo in the Brassaï’s photograph “Lesbian Couple at Le Monocle, 1932,” who was an aspiring Olympic athlete, a racecar driver and a Nazi sympathizer — the book is set in Paris in the Thirties. “I didn’t go to Paris as much as I wanted,” said Prose of her research. “I worked off maps and guide books, so I had a sense of the city at the time, but I was trying to get back to Paris in the Thirties, so it was only going to be modestly possible.”
