Calvin Klein Inc. just added more fuel to the fire that Raf Simons will become its sole creative director.
The company said Tuesday that it will unify all Calvin Klein brands under one creative vision and Francisco Costa, women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, and Italo Zucchelli, men’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection will be exiting.
It made no mention of Simons, but said “an announcement will be made in due course” regarding its future creative direction.
The news comes on the heels of rumors the last few months that Simons would be joining in a top creative role. The house has consistently declined to comment about Simons joining the firm. It is believed that Simons, former creative director of Christian Dior, has a non-compete with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton until the summer.
According to Calvin Klein, the strategy comes as part of a global evolution in the direction of the Calvin Klein brand, which began with the reacquisition of its jeans and underwear businesses in 2013.
