Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has split from Halston, where he had an equity stake for the past several years. Weinstein’s departure follows in the wake of Sarah Jessica Parker, who served briefly as the label’s president and chief creative officer.
Despite the departures, sources indicated that the business still has the full confidence of its parent company, Hilco, which has invested $7.5 million in new capital, as the brand has seen recent growth at retail. Other developments regarding the future of the brand could be disclosed in the next 10 days.
While Weinstein brought high-profile attention to the once-influential label, his role was essentially that of a figurehead with little or no operational responsibility.
