NEW YORK — Donald R. Lehman has been named president of the textile fibers group of Hoechst Celanese Corp. The appointment will be effective Monday.
Lehman succeeds William B. Harris, who, as reported, has been named head of parent company Hoechst AG’s worldwide fibers business.
Harris also has been named senior vice president of Hoechst Celanese with responsibility for polyester resins and films and the firm’s Mexican operation, Celanese Mexicana.
Lehman, who will report to Harris, will be responsible for all aspects of the textile fibers group’s operations in North America, focusing on polyester staple, polyester filament and acetate. He will also continue as a member of Hoechst Celanese’s operating committee.
Lehman, 47, joined Hoechst Celanese in 1969, and has held several positions in the firm’s chemicals and specialty chemicals businesses. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager of monomers and acetyl chemicals.
