The inaugural New York YoungArts Gala in collaboration with Swarovski will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur on April 6.
Two hundred of New York City’s top cultural and community leaders, philanthropists, celebrities and art patrons are expected to attend.
The event will be hosted by honorary cochairs and YoungArts master artists Mikhail Baryshnikov, artistic director of the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and opera singer Plácido Domingo, as well as gala cochairs Sarah Arison and Agnes Gund. There will be additional support from Max Mara.
The YoungArts New York inaugural gala will be emcee’d by “Gossip Girl” and “The Knick” actress Zuzanna Szadkowski.
The event acknowledges 35 years of the organization’s support and impact on young talent across the country. It also begins the organization’s annual regional program YoungArts New York, which takes place April 12 to 17 featuring performances at Baryshnikov Arts Center and an exhibition at Sotheby’s. This year’s 819 YoungArts winners were selected out of a record-breaking 12,000 applications, 100 of whom are from the greater New York area.
YoungArts New York provides 2016 winners with a chance to participate in interdisciplinary workshops, seminars and master classes with leaders in their fields. This year participants will experience master classes including Swarovski curricula, and will showcase their talents to local audiences during pubic exhibitions, readings and a series of performances directed by Baryshnikov, alongside BAC’s artistic administrator Pedja Muzijevic and Grammy Award-winning violinist Christian Hebel.
