J.C. Penney Co. Inc. has given two of its executives added responsibility.
John Tighe, previously the general merchandise manager of men’s, has been named senior general merchandise manager. He will continue to oversee men’s and add children’s, footwear and handbags to his responsibilities.
Siiri Dougherty has been promoted from gmm of women’s to senior gmm. She will continue to lead women’s and also take over Salon. She will also oversee J.C. Penney’s partnership with InStyle magazine as the retailer’s salons transition to The Salon by InStyle. Tighe and Dougherty report to chief merchant Liz Sweney.
Tighe joined Penney’s in 2002 as a senior buyer and served as divisional merchandise manager of juniors sportswear before leading the e-commerce business. He was promoted to senior vice president, gmm of home in 2010 before transitioning to men’s in 2012. He had previously spent 12 years at Filene’s Basement in a series of merchandising roles.
Dougherty started at Penney’s in 2003 and held various leadership positions in women’s apparel before being named dmm of women’s career and sportswear. She was promoted to senior vice president, gmm of women’s in 2012. Prior to joining Penney’s, Dougherty acted as a senior merchant at The Limited and as a buyer at Stage Stores.
