JOHANNA FOR MODA: Johanna Ortiz and Moda Operandi go way back — to 2014, when Moda exclusively launched Ortiz’s business globally.
On Monday, the designer, who works with indigenous artisans in her native Colombia, will unveil a collection designed exclusively for the luxury e-tailer. The “high summer” collection for Moda Operandi, according to Ortiz, is all about Caribbean “delicacies”: think swimwear, kimonos, dresses, tops and skirts decked out with eyelet embroidery, pleating and her signature ruffles.
“I took lightweight elements like linens and cottons and combined them with richer fabrics and hand embroidery to craft our favorite silhouettes with exciting twists,” Ortiz said, characterizing the “high summer” season as a time for vacations and holiday festivities. “I believe versatility can also be sophisticated and nothing says summer better than beach to bar.”
The Johanna Ortiz collection — which counts Jessica Alba, Olivia Palermo, Ciara and more as followers — is also available at Bergdorf Goodman and Net-a-porter.com.
